What She’s Passionate About
Continually learning, seeking out challenges, and engaging in exploration.
Her Professional Experience
Jen’s work experience to date has been eclectic in title, but consistent in what she tries to do. From event management to professional services operations and change consulting, Jen has always tried to partner with people to explore and identify employee and organizational needs with the intent of designing and developing impactful solutions. Jen has worked to do this internally for an organization as well as playing the role of an external partner. Jen believes in continual improvement and focuses on solving real problems, finding the best answer, and ultimately trying to make a positive difference.
Her Values in Action
Jen feels stagnant if she is not incorporating continual learning, new challenges, and exploration into her life. Recently, she spent a year getting in shape to run in the Chicago Marathon. She never imagined being someone who could run 26.2 miles, but by learning about the best methods to gradually build the endurance, nutrition, and mental toughness to do so, she was able to (largely) run the whole thing.
She also recently embarked on a journey to learn a new language to help open her mind to another way of thinking about communication, inflection, gestures, and sounds. Jen hopes to travel and put her new language skills to the test in the next year or so. She finds that, the more countries she visits, the more she wants to see and explore. Exposing herself to other norms allows Jen to think outside her own box and imagine the possible.
Where Her Potential Is Fully Realized
Whenever Jen thinks back to the most fulfilling moments in her life, they usually revolve around teaching. Often it is more than the subject matter, and rather is about the underlying role of a teacher: building confidence, noticing how people respond differently, getting people outside of their comfort zone, and leveraging her vulnerability to bring others out of their own vulnerability bubble. Jen really enjoys bringing those experiences to other people, especially when they are young people beginning to explore and understand the world around them.
