Ken Blackwell, LSCS, CHSP, Joins TiER1 Healthcare

TiER1 Healthcare is pleased to announce that Ken Blackwell, LSCS, CHSP, has joined the company as a Senior Consultant, with a focus on Life Safety and the Environment of Care.

A former Joint Commission surveyor, Ken has surveyed approximately 600 healthcare organizations, including military hospitals and Veterans Health Administration facilities. He brings to TiER1 nearly 20 years of experience in the healthcare industry, with expertise in the accreditation and regulatory standards and a commitment to continuous quality improvement in the areas of life safety, fire safety, equipment management, emergency management, utility management, and safety management. As a member of our accreditation and regulatory compliance team, Ken works with hospital and health system clients to assess their current state of compliance and provide recommendations toward achieving safe, quality care.

More about Ken

In his 14 years with the Joint Commission, Ken worked in a range of healthcare settings evaluating the effectiveness of organizations’ processes for designing and maintaining buildings to Life Safety Code standards, identifying and resolving Life Safety Code problems, and determining organizations’ compliance with relevant Life Safety Code requirements and emergency management standards. He also conducted Environment of Care tracers and performed annual evaluations of Environment of Care management plans.Photo of Ken Blackwell Previously, Ken served as the Director of Safety for Southern Maryland Hospital Center, Bon Secours Baltimore Health System, and Shore Health System, and as Facilities Project Manager at Walter Reed Army Medical Center and Malcolm Grow Medical Center on Andrews Air Force Base. Ken holds a Bachelor of Science in Healthcare Management, an Advanced Safety Certificate, and is a graduate of the US Air Force Occupational Safety and Health Technical School. He is a certified Life Safety Code Surveyor, a Certified Healthcare Safety Professional, and a certified Yellow Belt, and a member of the National Fire Protection Association, the American Society of Safety Engineers, and the American Society of Healthcare Engineers.
