We are delighted to share that TiER1’s Nick Pineda has been chosen as a 30 Under 30 winner by the Pittsburgh Business Times and Leadership Pittsburgh. The 30 Under 30 Award celebrates young professionals in the Pittsburgh area who are making massive impacts on their industry and communities, as well as playing a big role in moving the region’s business landscape forward.
Nick moved to Pittsburgh with his wife, Kristin, four years ago. After growing up in Queens, New York, and then living in Boston for eight years, Nick was excited to make an impact in a region that is primed for growth. “In a city like Pittsburgh, with its leadership in the financial, medical and robotics fields, there is so much that’s possible,” he said. “Not being a coastal city, there are different kinds of opportunities for partnerships and cultural growth in the community that I didn’t have before.”
Since starting as a Director of Innovation at TiER1 in July 2017, Nick has partnered with many leaders and their teams to activate innovation through culture and behavior. He has influenced TiER1’s strategy activation service offerings as well as its internal portfolio management approach. Nick’s innovative thinking also allowed TiER1 to develop a unique perspective around digital transformation, which was distilled into a half-day workshop that has been held in five cities and attended by hundreds.
“Nick’s leadership in innovation and human-centered design is underscored by his passion and desire to make a positive difference in the world,” TiER1 CEO Greg Harmeyer said. “He’s the kind of person who inspires everyone to be better and work towards something bigger.”
In addition to his role at TiER1, Nick consults for Subculture. He’s also a master’s student in the Positive Organizational Development and Change program at Case Western Reserve University. Nick said that working in multiple spaces has benefited his creativity.
Locally, Nick is a thought leader in the Pittsburgh community. He believes that diversity and innovation are fundamentally linked, and it’s his personal mission to be a voice and a source of ideas and action when it comes to helping companies make investments in both innovation and their communities. He is working with leaders to make sure Pittsburgh’s next renaissance includes a world where the demographics of its business and entrepreneurial networks reflect the demographics of the city’s residents.
The bottom line? Nick Pineda adds value to any room that he’s a part of. Pittsburgh is so lucky to have him, and so are we! The 30 Under 30 honorees will be recognized at an awards ceremony August 15 at the Ace Hotel.
