Rethinking Problem-Solving in the Workplace
Many organizations are configured in silos to efficiently deliver products and services at scale. There’s nothing inherently good or bad about silos, though they often get a bad rep.
One unintended consequence of silos, however, is that they can prevent organizations from coming up with the most effective solution for a business challenge. When a single silo is charged with task of solving an organization-wide problem, most often they come up with a band-aid solution that doesn’t fully solve the issue.
Andy Erickson, Senior Solutions Consultant at TiER1, explains that companies can look across silos to bring their frontline people together to co-create an effective solution, changing the way everyone within an organization thinks about problem-solving.
