NAVIGATING LXPs AND THE ENTERPRISE

learning ECOSYSTEM

Employees are changing roles, changing processes, and reskilling more quickly and fluidly than ever before. To meet that need, many leaders are adding a new class of learning technology platforms to their enterprise learning ecosystem. The Learning Experience Platform (LXP) and related technologies hold the promise of more efficient, employee-motivated, collaborative learning often right in the flow of work—which drives not only employee development, but also adds measurable value to the business. A people-centered approach to LXP selection, design, deployment, and adoption will enable you and your people to fulfill that promise.

What is an LXP?

In the world of Learning & Performance, the term “LXP” is most used as an abbreviation for Learning Experience Platforms. The definition of “Learning Experience Platform” continues to shift, but in general, it refers to a new class of learning platforms that put the learner at the center of the learning experience (rather than the content).

These new platforms provide features and capabilities that keep employees across the enterprise engaged with content, programs, peers, and experts “in the flow of work.” They also harness powerful technologies, like artificial intelligence (AI) and machine learning (ML), to drive relevant and personalized learning based on individual profiles and criteria defined by organization. CLIENT success STORIES

“To support our growth goals, we need to redesign our upskilling user experience to boost learner engagement.”

A Fortune 500 company wanted to update its learning technology roadmap and determine the learning platform functionality needed to meet growth goals. First, we worked with their existing LMS and enhanced the learner experience, which included a revised course catalog, digital mobile catalog, new LMS landing pages, and a mobile app. With immediate needs addressed, we helped the client uncover the underlying challenge—providing clear learning pathways for their extended enterprise which included employees and contractors. To take their learning technology to the next level, we led them through the roadmap development, partnered on vendor analysis and selection, and helped deploy a Learning Experience Platform and overall experience design for its field-based team.

“We have a strategy for our Learning Technology Ecosystem, but we need help evaluating and preparing for activation.”

A global finance company built a strategy to transform their enterprise learning function, but needed help executing and activating it. We met them where they were and partnered to analyze and activate the technology strategy and Learning Technology Ecosystem (LTE) approach. From providing feedback and clarifying use cases and requirements, to building a business case and a vendor short list, we designed an LTE implementation plan that brought their tech strategy to life for their people. This enables the client’s design teams to activate their LTE approach through the development of learning paths that engage employees by rewarding career learning achievements with badges and credentials.

We need a learning platform that integrates seamlessly with our current systems to support virtual onboarding curriculum.”

An insurance company needed a learning experience portal that could both be housed in their current technology systems and support a virtual onboarding program. We partnered to create a Virtual Learning Environment (VLE) that was seamlessly housed in the organization’s SharePoint site and that integrated with their other technology systems to provide a cohesive user experience. The platform design and supporting nudges successfully fostered connections, built performance skills, and created a measurable learning journey that allowed associates to work from anywhere.
